Volunteering at Parikrma

To experience urban India at the grassroots level, there is no other opportunity quite like volunteering with Parikrma. We work with 69 slum communities and over 1500 of the poorest children in Bangalore, India's Silicon Valley, where an estimated 10-30% of the population reside in 862 slum communities.

While the core of our programs are delivered by full-time employees at Parikrma, the extent of our impact would not be the same without the help of our volunteers. We depend on volunteers to provide exposure to the world for the Parikrma children. The diversity of our volunteers in terms of culture, ethnicity, age, educational backgroundand occupation provide the children with invaluable life experiences, and through this exposure, they can truly become global citizens. Most importantly, volunteers provide our children with positive role models, which they may be lacking due to their backgrounds.

We strive to combine the skills and passions of our volunteers in order to create a meaningful and memorable experience, and also one that is also beneficial to our students. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact our Volunteer Coordinator at info@parikrmafoundation.org

National Volunteers

Volunteering at Parikrma is ideal for Indians who feel disconnected with India at its grassroots and feel that they are equally responsible for the underserved population of the country. Since we began in May 2003, we have had over 200 volunteers from Bangalore as well as other parts of the country. Our volunteers range from students, parents, retirees and employees (especially from the IT industry), but mostly those individuals who want to make a difference in their country. These volunteers continue to be great ambassadors for Parikrma and have gone away with entirely different ideas of their home country than they originally arrived with.
